Thanks to the continuing support of the community towards the Block Island Lions Club, as well as the participation of athletes in the annual Run Around the Block road race, the club was able to support the following groups and initiatives at its latest meeting:- $4,000 to the Batchelder Scholarship Fund- $5,000 toward a new pickleball court- $2,500 toward the school trip to Peru- $6,000 for the school’s Further Afield trip to St. Croix- $1,500 for a new kiln at the Block Island School- $1,500 for Helping Hands Food PantryThe Block Island Lions Club also allocated $2,500 toward a new bench to be installed at Ball O’Brien Park in honor of past Lions Club President Mary Lawless.
